Opportunities for ETFs Investment

  • Cost savings: Investors may save costs due to the lowe operating expense of ETFs compared to traditional investment funds.
  • More flexible trading: ETFs can be traded daily, providing investors with greater flexibility in managing their capital.
  • High transparency: Investors can view the portfolio of stocks in the ETF they are investing in, as the ETF's holdings are published daily.

Risks of ETF Investment

  • Market supply and demand: Like any other commodity, the price of ETFs is affected by supply and demand factors.
  • Market risk: The volatility of the underlying securities directly affects ETFs. When factors increase the volatility of the underlying securities, the price of the ETF will rise, and vice versa.

Liquidity risk: The liquidity of Vietnamese ETFs is quite low, as they have not yet attracted significant interest from investors.

  • Fund certificates do not have a fixed time or specific proft rate like bank deposits, so the profits from fund certificates can be higher or lower compared to those from a bank.
  • However, because of the higher risk and the potential for better profits, you should assess your own risk tolerance to make an appropriate decision.

If I do not have enough structured securities, can FPTS provide support?

Yes, FPTS will assist customers in purchasing structured securities, provided that customers have sufficient account balance. Otherwise, FPTS will guide the customer to place the order independently.

How long does it take for fund certificates to be credited to my account after placing a primary trading order?

ETF fund certificates are allocated to investors by VSDC/FPTS at 16:00 on T+1.

When can I sell fund certificates?
  • You can sell fund certificates at any time. The fund management company is responsible for repurchasing your fund certificates at the NAV price of the matching day.
  • When deciding to sell, keep in mind that the selling fee depends on how long you have held the ETF certificates. If you sell before the specified period, you may pay higher fees. Therefore, it is advisable to hold for over one year to avoid high selling fees.

What is the settlement period for secondary trading fund certificate transactions from the trading date (T)?

Currently, according to the Clearing and Settlement Regulations of the Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (VSDC) issued under Decision No. 48/QD-HDTV on October 30, 2024 on the settlement date for fund certificate transactions is T+2.
